Energy Sucking Electronics | Vampire Power

[REPOST]

Everyone knows about turning off a light when you exit a room to help save on your electric bill. But did you also know that even though electronics aren't on, they can still be sucking electric and raising our bills? This is known as "vampire power," or standby power.

The "vampire power" can use as much as 10 to 15 watts per device. And Wikipedia reports that "vampire power" makes up 10 percent of the total electric used in residents.

So simply unplug the unused items or hook them up to a power strip, and unplug that. This small action can save big time at years end and put that hard earned money back into our pockets.
