SNES Super Nintedo Collector Games

My SNES system

I am an avid collector of vintage SNES (Super NES) games. I liked the original NES games also, but growing up, I remember having one of the 49.10 million SNES gaming consoles. And my two older brothers had one of the 61.91 million NES systems sold worldwide.

So I guess it's just the memories mostly that make me love the SNES games today. And I'm glad I grew up playing SNES. Even though it wasn't Nintendo's first console to take the world of gameing on. However, it was the first ever three dimensional gaming system in history. In fact, the game Star Fox was the first playable game released in 3-d.

Some of my NES, SNES and Nintendo 64 Games

Now that I have hit the big 3-0, I am on a quest of my own. And that is to build the entire collection of SNES games that were sold at retail in the United States, Canada and Mexico. There were many more games put out in different countries, but I'm not really interested in them.

How many games were put out in the United States, Canada and Mexico you may ask? I think the total is somewhere between 721 and 845. But just finding that out has been time consuming and frustrating. I've looked at many sources online including Wikipedia which gives the SNES games list and Google and can't get the exact number. Each search leads me to different totals.

Above is some of my games. The console on the left is the Nintendo 64 and the Super Nintendo is on the right.

So by some chance, I'm hoping someone may stumble over my little old post here and have the answer for me. But till then I'm just gonna keep looking at yard sales, searching online, and attending countless auctions to try and find them all.

It's aggravating but fun all at the same time. It's kinda the thrill of the hunt for me. And the memories of waking up on Saturday morning, with my best friend Melissa, playing the Super Mario World with Yoshi & Super Mario All Stars games is the kind of thing that keeps me looking.

But the more I read through the email and by them wanting me to "click here," and input my info, I realized it was too fishy to be real. So I reported it to eBay on their ANSWERS forum. And that's where I got the info that it is in fact a scam. I then was informed to forward the original email on to spoot@ebay.com, which i immediately done.

Have you every gotten an email scam letter from what seemed to be eBay?

Don't Feed Me Allergy Shirts

Allergies..... Read all about it. I mean seriously, read all about it on children's shirts!

Have you seen this new trend in clothes for kids yet? I'm talking about the bright red allergy shirts designed by Kym Whitley. Whitley is known best from her comedy and reality shows but this time she's in the news on a more serious note.

Whitley has launched a new line of clothing set out to help the 3 million + children with food allergies in America. The line of t-shirts are called "Don't Feed Me," and they have categories that parents can checkmark to show their child can't have that food.

These shirts would be great, on one hand, for the busy teachers and caregivers. It would be a bright red reminder as to what that child can and cannot eat. But on the other hand, it makes a child stand out among their peers. And that most certainly will give other kids a reason to bully them.

From a parent's eye though, I'm sure they want to keep their kid away from the dangers of prohibited foods. Rather than the bullying part. At first, I had mixed feelings about the shirt. And without having any children, I can only speculate how I'd feel in the moment. But as of right now, I'm all for the shirts.

I've suffered from food severe food allergies over half of my life. And that's what pushes my decision. I know how a few minutes, after having an off limit food, can break down the body. I don't think the everyday person thinks of food allergies as being very serious. But they are. One minute you can be fine. Next minute your body can start to suffer from anaphylaxis, which is the most serious, full body reaction to foods or chemicals. And most of the time, if not treated with immediate medical care or an epi-pen, death can occur.

I've been through one round of anaphylaxis over the years and it is very serious. And that is why I'm all for the "Don't Feed Me," shirts for kids with allergies.

Why or why not would you put them on your children?

The Jockey Lot Flea Market

Largest Flea Market Ever | Jockey Lot in Anderson, SC

This summer, with my love of flea markets and auctions at it's high, I traveled from Kentucky to visit the Jockey Lot in Anderson, South Carolina.
The Jockey Lot covers more than 65 amazing acres and accommodates more than 2,150 vendor spaces. The average daily attendance varies anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 people. And so even on a off day, it is amazing!

I had heard of this flea market on various occasions but nothing said nor seen had me ready for what I was about to experience. Simply put, I was in hog heaven! I mean everywhere you turn, left, right, behind you, in front of you, there was booth after booth. Vendor after vendor. Item after precious item to look at. And ohhhh, how I looked. And ohhhhh how I bought. The worst part of our trip was that once there at the Jockey Lot, we realized we should have driven a truck. No, a U-haul. No, a SEMI! I am serious folks. We were in a four door, Mercury Milan, and let me tell you, there was barely room for me to get in after about four or five hours of hunting for bargains.
This was simply the best and by far, the largest flea market I have ever been to in my life! And I am sure I will visit it once again in the near future!

Here is a link to a large map of The Jockey Lot so you can see all the vendors booth numbers to get an idea of the size. And if you spot the Water Tank section, just remember that the pic attached to this, is of that very water tank. I took it from the parking lot on that side.

And for all of my fellow bargain hunters out there reading this, I thought I'd tell you my best find. It wasn't anything big in size, remember I was in a family sized car, but it was a great find to me. lol. It was a whole bowl of that fake fruit. You know, the kind that grandma had sitting in bowls in her kitchen when we were little.

Well, I'd been wanting some before and hadn't even thought of it on this trip. But way out in the middle of the flea market, there it was. I spotted it. A bowl overflowing with fake fruit. The lady vendor was very nice and cheerful. I asked her of the price and she said it was a dollar for all the fruit and if I wanted the bowl too, it'd be $1.50. Simply because she had drawn faces on a couple of them for kids in some sort of program. I was like OMG in my head. OF COURSE I WANTED IT. I WANTED IT ALL! lol. And I grabbed it up, after she placed it all in a crumpled up, re-used Walmart bag, I threw it in line on my aching arm, along with all my other bags of treasures. And then headed on down the long line of treasures still waiting on their turn to be picked.
Ah, simply the best flea marketing day I've ever had!
What's your best flea market find?

Grandmammys House

Thanks to a fellow Gatherer, Ryan Reid for this post idea. He recently put up a post titled,
Just Saw My Dream House... and it got me to thinking....

My view, in my mind, of my dream house varies greatly now than it did, oh, say 10 years ago. Especially since things have changed so much in our economy and I guess the fact that I've finally "grew up." lol. Well, at least on the way anyways. lol. I use to dream of a huge house, in ground pool, hot tub, three car garage, my list was endless. lol. Even though it's just me and my husband here in this three bedroom, country home. I'd always be wishing for more room.  And then I thought about my late grandmother's tiny house.

My mind often drifts back to her. We all called her Grandmammy. She was a truly country woman. She lived off a farm her entire life. Her first home was a country, two story, wooden home. It had some sort of papering on the outside for years and years before it finally got some wood siding. It has a porch on the front that was made from rough logs and lumber that her husband actually cut down. It did have a big front and back yard though. Most of which ran into the fields that were used for gardens or farming tobacco.
Below is a pic of my late Mom, as a little girl, sitting on that very front porch, in the 1950's.

And in the pic below is a photo of my mom on the right, her cousin Ora Lee, on the left. Both standing in the the front yard of that same house in 1967. That tree in the background is still standing to this day. It's much bigger though. And the fields behind them are now cluttered with houses. It sad when you think back that it all use to be one big ole piece of land. Oh, how times have changed.

But in her last few years, Grandmammy moved over, on the same land, just down the road, into a one bedroom, tiny house. I mean tiny! That's all she needed and she had chosen to give her farm house to one of her son's that had lived with her his entire life. Well, she made the most of that tiny house. And she was as happy as ever. Sitting and rocking on the small front porch, almost any time of the day you stopped by. Mostly, peeling potatoes or stringing beans.. But she enjoyed it.

I've learned to love what I have as well. Nothing we have would be considered "fancy" in anyone's eyes, I'm sure. But we make do. And we like it.  And all in all, it truly is our home.

The History of Valentines Day

Antique Valentine 1909

♥♥ The History of Valentines Day ♥♥

Valentine's Day, or as some say, Saint Valentine's Day is celebrated by people throughout the world on February 14. It is also known as lovers holiday. Whatever you call it, one thing is for sure, love is in the air.

According to Wikipedia, Valentine's Day was named after two early Christian martyrs whose names were Valentine. It wasn't until later in the High Middle Ages (1000–1300) when Geoffry Chaucer, an English author and poet, added the "romantic touch" to the holiday.
Love today is expressed in many different ways such as by the sending of love notes called "valentines", to those special someones. Or you may elect to send a more elegant gift to show your affection such as flowers or candies. Often adorned on traditional packaging of these gifts you can find brightly colored hearts and images of Cupid.

Cupid, according to Roman mythology, is said to be the God of erotic love and beauty. When researching Cupid in the Wikipedia encyclopedia, I discovered Cupid to be the son of goddess Venus (goddess of love) and god Mercury (messenger god).
Don't forget your special one this Valentine's Day. Keep up with the times and send out mass e-cards. Or take it back a notch to the more thoughtful days. By sitting down, thinking of the person, and mail out a heartfelt, handwritten "valentine." Either you choose, remember, it's the thought that counts. ♥♥

Ashely Judd to Star in KY State Senate Race

Would You Vote for Judd?

Hollywood actress, Ashley Judd, 44, is about to embark on her next major roll as Kentucky State Senate. The Kentucky native, reportedly is putting on her boots and gearing up to hit the stomping ground in Kentucky. There she is said to challenge Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnel in the 2014 election.

At first glance this seems to be a farfetched role on Judd's part. If you live outside of Kentucky I'm sure you'd think she's just blowing smoke into the wind. Yet here in eastern Kentucky, where I reside, she's already gaining a great following.

Kentuckians, despite being behind in the times, sure are faithful. And by that I mean they stay true to their roots. They also love their UK Wildcats. Voters won't be casting the ballots based on Judd's master's degree from Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Nor will her world travels to help those in need scoop up the votes. Kentuckians will be voting based solely on their love of their homeland and the Cats. As long as Judd keeps attending the games, I predict she'll win by a landslide.

Being a Democrat from Salt Lick, Kentucky, you may wonder where my vote will go. As of right now, if she runs, I will openly support Judd. I have to admit however, I would vote for anyone opposite McConnel. I cannot believe he's made it this long, holding the record for Kentucky State Senator. I for one, think it's time for him to go. And hopefully, Judd will be holding open the door.

I was recently contacted by a fellow blogger, Michelle from Vintage Cobweb with great news. Seems she awarded me the ‘Your Blog Is Fabulous’ Award for my site www.Booth555.com.

Area for BBQ

Since Gather is giving me a hassle at uploading any pic today, on my article there, I did so here. It keeps telling me I need to install missing plugins. I've clicked the button and did so, but nothing changes. I sure hope it's a glitch today. I've always been able to upload there, well, with some occasional trouble.

So to go along with my article for Gather, included at the bottom is a pic of the area. Here's also the Gather article, in case it goes *poof* when I try to post it.

"Yesterday, we were spending the absolutely wonderful 68* day outside. We're clearing out a new spot on our property specifically for a bar-b-q/picnic area. We live way out in the country and love it! And even now and then we go camping. And at those camping spots, I've always loved the picnic areas. So I kinda want to re-make one here.
With us doing all the work, it's not gonna cost anything except for a new table. This time a wooden one. Since a recent storm decided to flip mine up in the air and break the glass. Even with it being secured with one of those heavy metal bases under the umbrella! And sadly I just bought that table about 6 months ago on sale at Big Lots with my 20% discount I'd worked for....

Till now, we've always used the side deck, but it doesn't hold many people. And in the summertime, my husbands family loves to join in on the cookouts and sit around a fire pit. So, we have finally decided to go forward with this. Hard work now will definitely pay off later.

I already can't wait. Last year at a moving sale in our area, I bought some vintage style metal chairs. They are a pale yellow and apparently had been forever. As the guy told me, (in his 60's) that they belonged to his late mom who had them yellow forever.

I love older stuff. And I am definitely gonna keep them around for the picnic area.
I too, love to eat. And love love love on the grill turkey burgers and turkey dogs. My husbands' favorite of course, like most men, is steak on the grill.

Do you bbq or grill out in the summer? If so, what's your favorite grilled food?"

SUPER FOODS | Apples

Yesterday I did a little bit of shopping with my Aunt. She's a smart lady. I've always looked up to her. One thing she's always told me throughout the years is to eat this and eat that. And she'd have her reasons.
Most of which, revolved around the fact that I am deadly allergic to beef and pork. And mildly allergic to milks, cheese ect. But since I never eat red meat, she's always worried I wasn't getting the protein and nutrients my body needs. I do tend to stay a bit weak and on the sicklier side about 7 or 8 months out of the year. Even with the weekly steroid shots, B-12 shots and allergy shots, my body just don't get enough of something or other. So I'm always looking for natural ways to get energy.

And this takes me back to my shopping trip yesterday. We were in a Marshall's store, (which I hate btw,) and while she was looking around, I wandered off into the books section. I LOVE cookbooks. However, my find of the day wasn't just a new cookbook, it was a book titled, "100 Best Health Foods."
I flipped through it casually and now I can't put it down. So I thought I'd share a post now and then about a food in it and why it is so good for us.
Today, I will go with sharing the goods about apples. We've all heard an apple a day will keep the doctor away right? Well, I think they are correct.
This book says that apples are
  • high in flavonoids which give us healthier hearts and lungs
  • low on calories and keep hunger away, which keeps us slimmer in the long run
  • fiber is rich with pectin and helps improve blood lipids and help reduce the bad cholesterol
  • good source of potassium that helps prevent fluid retention
So you see, maybe they are correct when they say, "An apple A day, will keep the doctor away."
