Fraley vs. Facebook Email | Scam or Real?

At first, I hesitated to open it because the subject was simply, "legal notice." And I immediately thought it was a scam. Well, I clicked on it anyways, opened it up, read it.

This is what my email looked like:

Then began to do a few Google searches to see what I could find. And was surprised to learn it is a very real lawsuit. And that apparently my likeliness, along with thousands others, was used by Facebook to promote games such as Farmville through ads. This wouldn't be a problem normally, except Facebook did not get permission from me or apparently any of the others to use our likeliness for these purposes.
Although I suspect that the social media giants will weasel through this lawsuit like they do any other. I wish for this lawsuit to receive a punishment that will make them think twice before just throwing our pictures on anything for promotions, without permission. Although, I'm sure it wont, being as the said payout is approximately 20 million total, each claimant will probably only receive $10 each. Still though, at least the lawsuit will bring attention to the matter. And maybe, just maybe, Facebook will think twice before slapping our photo's on ads for their site without permission.

If you feel you may have been a target, you can register as a claimant here on or before May 2, 2013.
