Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observed

Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed on January 18.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day
was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.

Martin Luther King Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was not born to the name Martin Luther, his birth name was Michael King. It wasn't until his family traveled to Germany, that his dad changed both of their names to Martin Luther in honor of the great German Protestant leader, Martin Luther.

Martin Luther King Jr. is most famous for his catch phrase of, "I Have A Dream." That phrase came from his speech in which he delivered in 1963 during the March on Washington.

Martin Luther King Jr. was the youngest ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
