Avatar has been by far the hottest movie release of 2009. With Avatar bringing home around $491.8 million dollars in the US, to date, it has even passed up the Star Wars record.
The hit movie Avatar originally premiered in London, UK on December 10, 2009. It was released to US and Canada on December 18, 2009, and reportedly grossed a whopping $27 million domestically. The worldwide opening, which was two days prior raked in an astonishing $232 million.
The Avatar movie has been the highest grossed movie released, rating 2nd worldwide of all time. In case you were wandering, the only movie it has not passed has been the awesome flick known as Titanic. And here's you an extra piece of info, both movies are written and directed by James Cameron. Way to go James!
