Leno vs. Letterman, Let the Re-match Begin.
Flashback, 1992, Jay Leno lands "The Tonight Show." Following year, 1993, David Letterman is set up as host of "The Late Show." And so the battle began for the ever so sought after 11:35 pm ratings.
Jay Leno usually took the ratings home with him and NBC. But David Letterman has always made him work hard for the money, so to say.
And with all the media being huge about Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno lately, we knew it would only be a matter of time before David Letterman was brought into it. And so it begins.
Jay Leno has been quoted as saying, "Letterman has been hammering me every night, You know the best way to get Letterman to ignore you? Marry him. He will not bother you. He won't look you in the eye."
And then Jay Leno had the nerve to say that Letterman's attacks on him surprised him because "usually he's just taking shots at the interns." A remark pointing out one of David Letterman's affairs with an intern of his own show, Holly Hester. She is supposedly the second woman David Letterman had extra marital affairs with of the show staff. First was Stephanie Birkitt, who was David Letterman's personal assistant.
Whatever happens when Jay Leno is returned to "The Tonight Show" will be fun to watch. I'm sure the jokes will be at their peek! I know I will be among the millions who will be watching. I'm just not sure If I will be tuned to David Letterman's "The Late Show" or Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show."
