Rest in Peace Nicole Marie Penix Vanzant
Nicole Marie Penix Vanzant, age 27, was last seen alive on January 19, 2009 in Meniffe, KY. Only a 15 minute drive from my home. Her mom drove her to the Dollar General Store, in Frenchburg to meet with her ex-boyfriend. Her mom then went into the store and when she came back out, Nichole was gone. Josh Brown, her ex-boyfriend, admits to picking her up at the store, but says he let her out on the side of the road after they got into an argument.
Four months later her body was found in the Red River Gorge around the Indian Creek Road area, more than forty miles from the Dollar General Store. The death investigation is still unsolved. And no formal charges have been brought against the ex-boyfriend yet. Although he has been named as a "person of interest." Nichole leaves behind many family members including a 5 year old son that want closure to this tragic occurance. I, along with many many more are praying for closure for this unsolved murder.
This really strikes a chord with me being as I live only minutes from where this occured. And I am really heartbroken for the family. I can't even begin to imagine what they must be going through. I want to help keep this in the news so it doesn't just turn to a cold case. Hopefully someday soon, Nicole's murder will be solved and she may rest in peace.
Rest in Peace Nicole Marie Penix Vanzant

In the Words of Alan Jackson's "Sissy's Song,":
Why did she have to go
So young I just don't know why
Things happen half the time
Without reason without rhyme
Lovely, sweet young woman
Daughter, wife and mother
Makes no sense to me
I just have to believe
She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me
Loved ones she left behind
Just trying to survive
And understand the why
Feeling so lost inside
Anger shot straight at God
Then asking for His love
Empty with disbelief
Just hoping that maybe
She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with Jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me
It's hard to say goodbye
Her picture in my mind
Will always be of times I'll cherish
And I won't cry 'cause
She flew up to Heaven on the wings of angels
By the clouds and stars and passed where no one sees
And she walks with jesus and her loved ones waiting
And I know she's smiling saying
Don't worry 'bout me
Don't worry 'bout me
Don`t worry 'bout me
