Christmas Around My House | 2011

Every year, I try to keep a theme for my Christmas tree. But this year something happened...

I went wild with the bags and bags of ornaments I had in the closet. I started my tree colors out in a soft gold and soft red only. With white lights as the main (cause thier made in the tree) and threw on a strand of red to make it match. Started putting up red and gold balls and ornaments then the tree topped, also red, and a red poinsettia under it, then before I knew it, I had on gobs of every color ornament all over the place. lol.

So, there for a minute, I actually thought about taking them all back down and starting over, but there was just too many. And so I left them alone and finally realized that without a theme, it's actually pretty cute. But next year I have my mind set already... It's gonna be a soft white and blue.(I picked out the tree topped for next year today, blue & white.)

Here's some random photos, below, from around my house this year for Christmas. I got the idea for this post from a fellow Gather, Adelaide. She had a great post on her blog,

Below is the fireplace mantel I asked my husband to build to go around the great stove I found at the flea market last week, here's that post. He got it done, but I haven't painted it yet or added any embellishments. But had to hurry up and get some things on it for Christmas, as I couldn't wait. lol.

Here below is a wreath I made last night. I saw in one of Adelaide's pictures that some had the cute xmas balls on them. So I tried to make one but I need some more smaller, red balls to really finish it up. And I also decided to make it on a grapevine wreath instead of the traditional green ones, just to fit with our house's primitive theme.

Below is a pic of lights on my garden trellis.

Note, for some reason this post is showing twice on my blog, here is the other Link to it... humm.

My New Years Resolutions | 2011

It is only the end of November 2010, but I want to go ahead and get started on my New Years Resolutions for 2011.

I wanted to get a jump on it because I just read a post by a fellow Gatherer, Matthew A., found here, and it really made me think. I mean those deep thoughts which I hardly get anymore! Seriously! I live in a material world, as most of us do. And we should just slow down sometimes and truly think.

I do alot of silly things. And I take alot of things for granted. I just really need to change my ways about some things. And hopefully, if I post those ideas down in my New Years Resolutions for 2011, I will be constantly reminded to stay on track.

I don't have alot of resolutions to list right away. But hopefully, I will be paying alot more attention to what life is all about within the next month and my resolution list will grow. Which, I intend on updating as they roll into my sometimes, pea sized brain.

My New Years Resolutions 2011

  1. Stop Complaining about the little things: I really need to stop complaining so much about the little things in life. I know my home could use this or that to make it a little nicer. But all in all, it's my home. It is a roof over my head. It is paid for and I should be happy. Of course our neighbors may have fancier outdoor lighting, nicer lawn furniture, I could go on and on. But in the end, I am very thankful to have a home! And I should realize this more often.

What is something that you constantly take for granted?

Organizing My Life

I am trying to get myself organized tonight. For the good of the Comments Club I'm in, and for the upkeep of my blog. And for just basically a little structure for my everyday chaotic life. So I actually went out and bought a monthly planner for 2011. And I am already marking weekly and some daily online activities which need to be taken care of.

So many of these, I unintentionally (spell check) neglect. And then when I do remember them, I feel so bad. I do manage to keep up with alot of stuff on time. So I know I can do this.

Right now, I'm sitting here brainstorming, trying to remember all the sites that I love to visit either on a daily or weekly level. And for the life of me, I can only think of about 3. lol. I know theres like 20 more floating around in my mind. I'm sure they will come to me.

So for now, gonna call it a night here and work in my planner. Maybe I will go through my favorites list and see what's in there.

Happy Gathering!

Do you keep a daily planner to help with online activities?

Update on my Organizing

I stayed up late last night, after posting about trying to organize my life into the new planner I bought. So far it's going good. I have all the main events down and just need to figure out those websites that I still cannot recall that I liked. Other than that, if I can stick to it, it seems like things will be a little easier for me. Let's see!

ps. I even found time to empty and clean out my purse tonight! It's so much lighter :-)

Is your purse or wallet overstuffed with items of no use?
