Snowman Ornaments

Here's a group of snowman ornies I made last year. They have the scarves and taboggins. All vary in different colors.

Primitive Checkerboard and Shelf

Here's an primitive looking, old crow gameboard I made. I used a left over cabinet door from my mother-in-laws remodel. I also painted the little shelf underneath, and just stenciled on the saying.
I love them displayed together.

Faith Family Friends Bench

Here's a bench I bought at a flea market. It was flat, baby blue before. I painted it black and added some stenciled wording. Then freehanded a primitive looking snowman on the front.
I just love it.

Primitive Tool Box

I drew out a toolbox design and had my husband cut it out for me. After
he put it together, I gave it a little detailing along the edges with black paint, to make it a lil more rustic. Then stenciled on the words adn stars. I just love it. I am going to keep magazines in it.

Old Crow Box

I found a plain box that had a pineapple pattern on it at a flea market. Bought it and painted it up with a crow stencil and wording. Then rubbed the edges with the stencil paint to get a rugged look. Here it is.

Old Crow Checkerboard

Here's a recycled "menu board" from a resturaunt. I painted it black and made it into a primitive game board. And stenciled on the saying, "Old Crow Game Board Co."
I just loved it. Although I couldn't find a good sitting place in my house to keep it, so I put it up for sale in my Peddler's Mall.

Tobacco Stick Tree

Photo by Me of my handmade Tobacco Stick Tree
These old tobacco sticks were used in the fields when growing tobacco, and were speared through the tops of the stalks. They were essential for "hanging" the tobacco in the barns to cure. A lot of stalks of tobacco could be slid onto one stick. And they were then hung up on the rafters in the barn to cure. The tobacco looks like this:

Photo: By Me of a bunch of real tobacco

Finding a use for old tobacco sticks is pretty challenging. Yet I love the look of them indoors, so I like a challenge. They are a perfect touch for a cute country or prim styled home. I drew out a sketch for my husband and this is what it turned out to be. I call it my tobacco stick tree. I decorate it with homemade rag ropes and lights of the season.

Since first making this one, I've started making them way slimmer and even shorter, table top versions. I need to get some updated photos and I will make a new post all about that design soon. Look for it!

Primitive Coal Bucket

Here's an old metal coal bucket I won from a local auction. It was a flat, silvery tin color when I got it. I painted it up, painted a stencil saying, and free-handed a primitive looking snowman. I just love painting snowmen on anything. lol.

Primitive Childs Desk

I won this at a local auction. It was a deep, dark reddish-brown color and really ugly. I painted it black and added a cute stencil saying, "Primitives, Blessings from our past."
My neice and nephew keep thier lil reading books inside. It gets alot of use. And best of all, keeps the books out of site when not in use.

Primitive Cubby Shelf

I picked this up at the Preston Court Days in Preston, KY for only $3.00.

It was an old ugly 1980's blue but I knew right off what I wanted it to look like.

I painted it black and made some fake scuffs using a yellow stencil paint. And stuck a stencil saying on the top for more detail.

I love it! It is currently still hanging in my entry.

Primitive Nesting Boxes

These were a set of nesting boxes I bought and just didnt like after time. They had a Christmas theme printed on them and they just didnt go with my everyday items. I once again, painted them my favorite colors, black and prim. yellow, and stenciled a crow on one. I now keep them atop the bookcase.

Primitive Doll Bench

I bought this little doll bench at a local swap meet. When I got it, it was an ugly, muddy blue color. I painted it black, roughed up the edges with stencil paint and stenciled on a cute saying.
It's still in my living room, as I haven't the heart to sell it yet.
One day I'm sure I'll find the perfect lil doll to sit in it. lol

Checkerboard

I bought this cute framed print in a Good Will. It had an ugly water sceen in it which I hated. So I painted it, then stenciled on my checkerboard pattern.
I think it turned out pretty neat looking. And it adds a punch of color to the wall.

Tobacco stick ladder

We live in the country, so I find many things in which I try to recycle into something I like. Here, I took some tobacco sticks that was once used to work in the fields of tobacco with, and simply cut them and made a cute little ladder. It's holding a few pieces of fabric and some ornies. I'm thinking that maybe I will display my smaller Christmas cards on it, when time comes.

Primitive Checkerboard

This primitive style checkerboard is made from one of my mother-in-laws old cabinet door from a kitchen remodel. They were solid oak, so I thought I'd keep a few and see what I could do with them. I love these two colors together. They are my absolute favorite. And that's why I do so many items in these colors.

Primitive Candle Holder

I had an old, woobly chair that had the cutest legs, so I broke it all up. And used the best parts to make a differenty kinda candle holder. I hot-glued a rusty metal star on it, and tied a bit of homespun fabric.
Theres a few more of the smaller pieces on the other side, but the photo got cut off. They sure are different, that's for sure. lol.

Primitive Sewing Machine

I loved this antique sewing machine when I saw it at a local auction. It was a rough, scuffed up, light brown color then. So I bought it and painted it, stenciled on a cute saying and just loved it. That is until I opened it up and realized the model number was three 6's... Well, I'm a tad bit superstitious so it had to go. I sold it at my Peddlers Mall. And a few months later, found another similar, unfinished one at another auction. It's still sitting downstairs just waiting to be painted though. lol.

Primitive Rag Ropes

I love doing crafts with fabric. Well that is if not much sewing is involved. I just don't have the patients for like quilting jobs and such. But I can sit and tie a knot. lol. And that's about all you have to do to make these adorable rag rope garlands. I do them in fabrics of the season for a holiday look. They add a touch of country wherever you need it!
I sell alot of these in my Peddlers Mall Booth .

Shelf Sitter Snowman

I had a few odd blocks of finished wood laying around from an auction box that I'd bought. And it took me a few weeks to come up with something to put on them. I love primitive looking snowmen, so I decided to make me a cute little shelf sitter. It stands up perfectly and is a great item to tuck back on a shelf to add a touch of the season. Was very simple and only took about 20 minutes, as I just freehanded it all.

Primitive Snowman Ornaments Metal Stars

I picked up these cute little metal stars at the local Dollar Mart. They were only $1.00 each. After painting them I only priced them for $3.00. But hey, that's more than I started with. And only used items I had. :-)

I decided to put some primitive looking snowmen on them. I love replacing the "coal
buttons" with star buttons.

I used regular bottles of craft paint, found at WalMart.

I think it just makes it look more primitive. I didn't keep these after all. But they are for sale in my Peddlers Mall booth #555.
