eBay Announcements | New Photo Rules

Are you an eBay seller? I am and have been for years. My seller name is CheapBlondeGirl http://myworld.ebay.com/cheapblondegirl/. I sell mainly vintage games and gaming consoles. And from time to time, the left overs of my craft supplies from my crafting blog http://booth555.com. But when auction fever strikes me and I buy boxes of stuff at estate sales, you never know what my listings will contain.

If you too are a seller, you may want to take note of their new picture quality requirements. This will be implemented in new and previous posts that are still up. Seems they are aiming at better photo requirements for those who view eBay through a mobile device. In which the screens are much smaller than the computer monitor. I understand this and think it's a great idea. As I too, am a frequent shopper on my cell phone from time to time.

New rules are as follows.
-The longest side of each photo must be at least 500 pixels
-No borders allowed around photo
-Photos must be free of added artwork and text. Meaning strictly the item itself in the photo. No photoshoping.
-And when listing any item other than books, movies, music, and video games you now cannot use the stock photo that eBay supplies as your main photo.

So if you are an eBay seller, please check your current listings. As eBay sent out this notice back in late 2012 but they are going to be enforced at the beginning of July 2013. I'm sure eBay won't ban you from selling for one mistake. But with the giant company, who really knows. It's best to comply with all rules as fast as you can. This way we steer clear of any rule breaking.

Etsy & CraftCult

Do you have an Etsy shop? I've dabbled once before with starting an Etsy (the world's favorite online handmade marketplace) shop. But in the long run, I never followed through with it. Now with winter approaching, I"ll have more time and have decided to try it again.
I love it that you can sell handmade items as well as crafting supplies. I usually order oodles of craft supplies because from most wholesalers you have to order in bulk. And that always leaves me with lots of crafting supplies left over. I know I could save them for next year and so on, but my shelves are full. So this week, I am making a goal to try to clean them out a bit. I can't wait to see how this goes. lol.
Another great thing I've ran into when fiddling with Etsy is the cool plugin for blogs. It's from the site CraftCult and it puts like a virtual shopping box on your blog of your shop. It's really cool and free. See it in action here on my blog.

My Peddlers Mall Booth

As an avid auction goer, yard saler and bargain hunter, one of my favorite places to shop is at the Peddlers Mall.

What is a Peddlers Mall?

If you are not familiar with a Peddlers Mall it is basically an old building, usually an out of date Wal-Mart building, that has been revamped into a flea market type store. Within the last 11 years they have grown to 20 retail locations mostly which are within Kentucky and Indiana.

This store is very unique and different from a flea market because each vendor does not need to stay with their booth in order for sales to occur. Customers roam the store, make their selections and pay for their entire order all at the front counters. Each item in the store is marked separately by each vendors' tag. And so the cashiers take extra care, reading each tag and so on, to ensure sales are correct.

Then vendors are paid once a month for their booth sales, minus the booth rent, which is usually around $120 each, and a mere 4% sales fee. I believe. I'll have to recheck that.


A Look Inside the Store

The store itself is very unique. Every ten feet or so, you are presented with booths of various vendors. You see, each booth is rented out separately, so everyone's items vary in detail greatly. You never know what you will find. One vendor may offer antiques while the booth next to it may offer Nascar items. You just never know what you will find. The categories are endless.







Peddlers Mall in Morehead, KY

Our local Peddlers Mall is wonderful. It is located in Morehead, KY. I've been to a lot of them, but this particular one is awesome. I even have my own booth in which I sell the primitive furniture and decorating accessories I make. The aisles are always clean. The individual booths, most of them (99%), are very well kept. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. Overall, it is just a wonderful, thrifty shopping experience. Makes the hunt for treasures all the more fun. Not to mention how much money you save rather than shopping retail!

Merry Christmas 2010

Just got in. Wew!
We got a lot of items marked off our Christmas list tonight. It was a busy night out. Let me tell you. Half of Kentucky must've been out shopping. lol.

Well, I'm gonna go separate all the goodies and start wrapping some.
I just wanted to say Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone since I'm pretty much 100% in the Christmas spirit tonight! So I thought I'd write it on a paper and hold it up to use as my display pic. lol.

Since the Gather website basically shut down forever during their updates and the owners changed, I do not write there anymore. It really sucks and is super slow!!!
