DTV Converter Box and HDTV Antenna
We made a decision today. And we based it on one of our New Years Resolutions of "Trying to Save Money!"
And that decision was to buy one of those DTV Converter Boxes & the HDTV Antenna.
As I am typing, my husband is putting the antenna together. They had many to choose from. But we thought in the long run, it was worth buying the largest size they had to offer. That way we wouldnt be wanting to upgrade it in a few months and just save the time now. And hey, if it picks up more channels because of something about a larger range, then YAY!
We currently have satelite, and omg, its too expensive. And especially when throughout the month, you choose a movie here and there to buy to watch, it really adds up.
So all in all, heres what we spent, but keep in mind, once purchased, we will not have any further "monthly" bills to keep watching this!
We shopped at RadioShack in Mt.Sterling, KY
DTV Converter Box: $58.00
HDTV (UHF/VHF/FM) AntennaCraft 150": $105.00
before taxes price.
So anyways. I am happy that we are following through with some of our resolutions. I just hope the crap was worth the purchase. lol. I will keep you informed.
Below is the pic of the antenna outside, it's HUGE!
Please Note: No Pole comes with the antenna. We did not know this until we got it home and out of the box. However, it can be mounted to your roof. We don't want it mounted to the roof because we are going to get a new roof in the upcoming year. If possible. And so, he's mounting the antenna to a cb pole, given to him by his dad. And then he's going to secure it to the corner of the house with something. That way it will be out of harms way, when the roofers do their job. And we wont have to move it again.
HERES THE LINK TO THE SECOND PART OF THIS POST with pic of the Antenna up!

I keep trying to tell hubby to get rid of the last of the cable tv.
We have a digital tv so I don't think we need the antenna, but I do think we still need the converter box.
We are still paying $35 on the cable bill for channels 2-22, and some of those channels are really channels.
My mom gets 8 more channels than we do for free with her converter box!
